I started as a content writer six years ago. Within a couple of months an agency picked me up as their copywriter, and six months after that a remote startup poached me to be their marketing manager, which was a generous title for someone who was mostly learning very fast in public.
That's been the pattern ever since. Somebody needed something done, there was nobody else, and I worked out how to do it. Copy turned into strategy, strategy turned into email, email turned into funnels, funnels turned into websites, and somewhere in there I picked up design, photography and everything else that goes with running a marketing function on your own.
I went fully freelance and ran it from Taiwan, then Bali, then Australia. I moved here in December 2022, took six months mostly off, and started building an Australian client base in late 2023. One of the first was my own therapy training school. Then a permanent role with KIRK doing B2B lead generation for an architecture studio, and eventually back to freelance, which is where I belong.
